Joining the Care Academy Steering Group gives you the opportunity to work in partnership with other providers and organisations across North Tyneside to shape the future of the social care workforce.

Being part of the group also helps you stay connected to the latest updates, opportunities and collaborative projects, while showcasing the great work taking place within your organisation. Together, we can share knowledge, support each other and drive positive change across social care.

The Working for Carers project is a partnership between Newcastle Carers, North Tyneside Carers’ Centre and Carers Northumberland.

If you are caring for someone with an illness, disability, mental health problem, or addiction, and you’re not employed to do this, then you are an unpaid carer. The project provides friendly and specialised support for unpaid carers aged 16 + to find a job, maintain employment, advance in their careers, or return to work.

Working for Carers also supports carers in the workplace and enables them to access employment, education, training and volunteering roles, they also work together with employers to develop these opportunities for carers.

With each day bringing new challenges, you’ll help others achieve health, happiness, and independence. During your studies, you’ll gain knowledge on a variety of topics, including physiological disorders, anatomy and physiology, dementia care, and much more.

Be part of shaping the future workforce

Employment and Skills provide a reliable high quality service which includes well trained and vocationally competent tutors and quality assured advisers working with young people and adults.

They consist of a number of key services and offer a range of personalised part-time courses in the health, social care, and education sectors.

Some of these courses include Get Into Care and if you are considering working in the care sector, this course will develop your knowledge and understanding of the various care settings and roles available, such as care work, personal assistants, supporting those with mental health needs, and domestic roles.

Help drive improvements across North Tyneside

The Prince’s Trust help young people from disadvantaged communities and those facing the greatest adversity by supporting them to build the confidence and skills to live, learn and earn.

Their courses, resources and other support help people aged 11-30 to develop essential life skills, get ready for work and access job opportunities. They support young people to find work because having a job or running a business can lead to a more stable, fulfilling life.
