North Tyneside Care Academy is for anyone looking for, or already working in care in North Tyneside.

It supports the recruitment and development of a well-led, skilled and valued care workforce across the borough.

Our aim is to provide information and guidance for the recruitment, retention, training and development of the adult social care workforce across North Tyneside.

Who we are and what we do

The Care Academy is a partnership between all care providers in North Tyneside including the local authority, the NHS, social care providers, the voluntary sector and local schools and colleges.

Care providers in North Tyneside support people aged 18 years or over who are vulnerable or at risk, including:

  • Older people 
  • People with physical disabilities
  • People with learning disabilities
  • People with mental health needs
  • People who are having difficulty with their hearing or sight
  • Young people and adults who care for relatives or friends 

Our aims and objectives

The main priority for the care sector in North Tyneside is always the health, wellbeing and safety of the people who we provide care for.

The aim of the Care Academy is to provide opportunities, information, guidance and training for those interested in a career in care as well as those already working in care.

The objective is to increase, improve and develop the social care workforce in order to meet current and future demands.

We work on behalf of the whole care sector

North Tyneside Care Academy is for anyone interested in working in adult social care, including how to enter the sector and further their career development in North Tyneside.

The Care Academy website is aimed at those working in North Tyneside, its commissioned providers and the general public interested in a career in social care.
